How to Add a Signature to Your Posts, for Blogger

If you like the look and personalization of having a signature like this: at the end of your posts, try this:

Go to My Live Signature. Click on "proceed" and "create signature".

You can then either click on creating a new signature, or uploading a scanned image of your real signature. Let My Live Signature walk you through the steps to create a signature you are happy with. If you create one with their fonts, you can chose the look, size, slant, etc. (You also can waste way too much time and also feel a little crazy at the end because after seeing your name 120 times in different fonts it ceases to have any meaning, lol! That is the fun part. ;-) )

You can save the final product as an image to your hard drive by right clicking on the signature and choosing "save image as", naming it and placing it on your computer where you see fit. Or you can click on "Want to use this signature?" at the end of your process and it will create HTML code for you to place on your blog.

If you decide to use their HTML, copy it, then go into blogger. Click on "Settings" in your blog dashboard, and then "formatting". Scroll down to the bottom where it says "post template." Paste the code you just copied into that template. When you next go to make a new post, that code will already be in it. Just make sure you type your post *above* the code, or your signature will come first in your post.

If you would rather host your own image in a place like Photobucket, right click on the signature image provided by My Live Signature like I described above, save it to your computer, then upload to your hosting place. Copy the HTML they give you, then place this code in the "post template" section under "settings" in blogger like described in the last paragraph: (replace parenthesis with <> )

(img src="http://theURLyoujustcopied.png")

and save. Have fun!

Thank you, Amy. That is just too fun. One question. Is it possible to remove my name from the "Posted by Kristen Laurence at 3:00pm", to make it read "Posted at 3:00pm"? This way my signature wouldn't seem redundant.

Amy said...

Yes Kristen! I just figured out how to do that too, if you have the new blogger. Go into your layout page, where you are able to add page elements, etc. Click on "edit" on the big box that says "blog posts" You'll see a checklist of items. Uncheck "Posted by" and it should disappear. You can also change whatever else you want at this point, of course. HTH!

I tried it and it works - great -

but

I wasn't able to type my post above it...where did I go wrong?

Amelia said...

This is me (amelia) again - see previous comment. Well, I figured out answer to that question - but now I have new question.

Signature looked great when I was creating my post...but after it was posted and printed out the signature was blurry and in a box. How can I correct it?

Momma 2...5 said...

Thanks so much! It was a great help!

Yay! Thanks so much! I kept seeing cute little signatures on people's blogs and wanted one of my own, nice to know it was so much simpler than I would have made it!!

Hello. I have the same question as Amelia, although it's over a year later. I found you through a google search.

My live signature appears on my post with a border around it. Any clue as to how to correct this?

I want to tell you how informative this post is. So much more information than that which I got from Live Signature!

My e-mail is katydid56@gmail.com. Thanks.

Those who can't get the border to go away - look in your HTML on blogger for:
.post img {
padding:0px;
border:0px solid

Make sure that border:0 and not some other number.

HTH! Thanks for the great post, Amy!

I've already done this on my blog quite a while ago, but someone just emails me asking how to do it and I googled "How to add a signature to blogger" and this blog post came up first...I read it and it had all the info on there so I didn't have to write it all down for my friend, I just sent her the link, LOL!

The signatures are just fun to have on the blog and add that personal touch.

Have a fabulous time during the rest of your weekend!

Thanks! I googled "how to put signature on blogger" and your site came up first.
I went to My Live Signature, and it worked great. I created an account so I can get back the exact siggys that I created. Now my daughters and I can post our own signature on each post!
I made mine the default on blogger under settings and formatting, and will paste their code in when THEY post a recipe.
This is great!

Marty said...

I was reading some comments, and had a few ideas.
Just a suggestion, I'm not an expert!

If your siggy has a box around it, try this. When you get to the part on My Live Signature that tells you to choose the color, check the box that says "transparent". (hope that works)

Second, if your sig is blurry, it may be because you have a colored background. I have another blog that has a pink background, and my sig was blurry there, but not on the one w/ white or light cream.
I have no suggestions to help w/ that, except choose a thicker font?
ugh, sorry!
